Purpose of the Job :
 

Business Analyst (Processes) will be responsible for end-to-end activities of documenting, designing and improving business processes to implement best practices and to improve operational efficiency of the company. The incumbent will be responsible as necessary for the requirements management process on all department projects.


Responsibilities and Tasks :
 

Use industry standard practices and methodologies to:
  • Document existing business processes and procedures.
  • Analyze processes to establish KPIs and to identify areas for efficiency, productivity, and quality improvements.
  • Work with respective business units and IT to recommend and implement improvements to existing processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Elicit, organize, document and validate requirements necessary to design or change processes and/or software applications.
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze needs, establish requirements, and deliver the artifacts as needed: (process maps, data flow diagrams, use cases, Business Requirements, User Requirements, Software requirements, etc.)
  • Analyze data to identify trends and validate assumptions.
  • Research external sources to find best practices and solutions applicable to the company.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Work under direction of project managers and independently with users.
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.


Required Skills and Competencies :
 

Technical and Professional Competencies (Education and Experience)
  • Three to five years of experience documenting and analyzing business processes.
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or similar.
  • Understanding of and experience with accounting standards in Canada.
  • Experience in process and quality improvement initiatives for accounting or finance, and logistics.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g.: Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Software development experience (as a Business Analyst).
  • Experience with industry standard tools and methodologies in process and requirements analysis.
  • Fully proficient with MS Office or equivalent.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English.
General or Personal Competencies
  • Strong analytical skills (required).
  • Strong communications skills (required).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills (required).
  • Ability to communicate in French (desirable).
  • Previous experience with retail and call center operations (desirable).
  • Previous experience in compliance initiatives in financial industry (desirable).
